Martha has been a dedicated donor to Casa for over 13 years. We asked her to share her story of why Casa is close to her heart.
“I feel a real commitment to anything that has to do with children. I was introduced to Casa through a couple of social clubs and we would do things for the kids on the holidays like Easter baskets or Christmas presents.
I once had a friend who needed help—she was struggling and told me, “I need somewhere the kids can go.” I immediately had a place to call. Casa said we could bring them that day. The whole time the children were at Casa we were able to stay in touch. Ultimately, the girls were adopted by a lovely family, and we are still in contact with those children, we are invited to their activities and have seen them grow.
I donate once a month for whatever is needed. I read the newsletters and see how big the need is. I donated the easter baskets for the Neighborhood this year. I get first names, ages, and we put the baskets together. It’s important for the children to have the things they may have missed out on like Christmas, easter, toys, etc.
I know what Casa does for families is working because they have been around for so long. If you love kids, you should get involved. Anything you can do for them is a plus.”
